Bowling Green

  • Overall series record: 0-1
  • First matchup: March 14, 1975
  • Last matchup: March 14, 1975
  • Last score: Bowling Green 67, Tennessee 58

After winning 18 games and finishing in third place in the SEC during the 1974-75 college basketball season, the Volunteers were invited to the NCIT for the second straight season, this time getting their one and only look at Bowling Green.

The game was played in Louisville and the Falcons prevailed with a 67-58 victory, themselves making it to the semifinals of that tournament. Tennessee’s impressive year ended in disappointment, though they’d reach the NCAA Tournament in 1976.

UNLV

  • Overall series record: 0-1
  • First matchup: December 29, 1982
  • Last matchup: December 29, 1982
  • Last score: UNLV 70, Tennessee 54

The lone showdown between these two programs was a high-profile matchup in December 1982 as part of the Las Vegas Classic, meaning the Rebels were playing at home.

It was No. 8 Tennessee against No. 15 UNLV and the home team prevailed, with the Rebels securing a 70-54 win and ending the Volunteers’ unbeaten start to the season at 7-0.

Little Rock

  • Overall series record: 0-1
  • First matchup: December 8, 1993
  • Last matchup: December 8, 1993
  • Last score: Little Rock 69, Tennessee 59

The final team today is Little Rock, who just happened to find themselves on Tennessee’s schedule back in 1993. There was nothing special about this game or about that Trojans squad, which finished under .500 and in eighth place in the Sun Belt.

Still, the Volunteers scuffled that season and fell 69-59 at home to those Trojans. This is a season where Tennessee would finish just 5-22, but they still should’ve taken care of business in their one shot against Little Rock.
