Nebraska isn’t exactly regarded as a power by any means in the sport of college basketball, but they’ve had Tennessee’s number in all three of their matchups to this point.

The Volunteers traveled to Lincoln back in December 2003 and left town with a rough 77-62 loss against the Cornhuskers. This was Tennessee’s only blemish during a 9-1 start to the season, while Nebraska had a decent yet mediocre year.

A chance for revenge came the following season, as their home-and-home shifted to Thompson-Boling Arena. Things didn’t go better for the Volunteers in Knoxville, as the Cornhuskers eked out a 62-61 road victory.

More than a decade later, these two programs met again in the third place game of the Barclays Center Classic. Despite 23 points from Kevin Punter, Tennessee fell by double digits, continuing a tough start to what would be another rebuilding season in Knoxville.
