Tennessee Football: Coach Heupel’s Vision, Joe Milton’s Leadership, and the Road Ahead
By Blake Wyman
In just eight short days, it will officially be FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE.
Tennessee Football will be heading to Nashville to take on the Virginia Cavaliers on September 2nd. Stay on the lookout for a complete breakdown on opening weekend in the coming days, but in the meantime, let’s dive into where both Head Coach Josh Heupel and superstar Quarterback set the bar for this year…
Head Coach Josh Heupel Has High Expectations.
In a recent post from Tennessee Athletics, HC Josh Heupel said:
"“If we don’t think you can play at a championship level, you won’t be on the field. It’s that simple.”"
It’s clear that there’s one thing on Heupel’s mind this year, and it’s to win the National Championship. Tennessee Football has yet to win a National Championship in the 21st century, and many people across the country think that this may be the year for the Volunteers.
Joe Milton Shows His Leadership.
According to Freshman Linebacker Arion Carter’s Instagram Story, Joe Milton had given each player on the roster a brand new pair of Beats headphones as a gift before the season started. According to the Instagram Story, he also included a note to each player that read:
"“Through thick and thin, we have each other’s back, I ride for you because you’re my brothers. We all have one big goal at the end but first, let’s win the EAST. – From Jojo to You.”"
Squirrel White, Bru McCoy, and others all showed their appreciation through Social Media. Beats are one of the most expensive headphones in the country, so it shows that Joe Milton truly believes in this squad to make it to the next level. On top of bringing the team together, Milton’s actions also helped solidify himself as a true leader, and one that can lead at the next level too.
Joe also had this to say to the media yesterday:
"“I may be a leader on this team, But I’m still a servant to everybody in the building.”"
Milton has truly been outstanding this offseason, both on the field and off, and in just eight days, he’s going to show the whole country why he is the best QB in College Football.
