Tennessee Football had an outstanding opening weekend, and as a result, two key starters were named SEC Players of the Week to start off the season.

From top to bottom, the whole volunteer team had a great showing. Whether it was getting hype on the benches or making plays on the field, it was an all-around great team win. There’s no better way to start the season off than going 1-0, and now it’s onto the following week. But before that, let’s recap the two key starters named SEC Players of the Week!

Joe Milton III was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

The big plays that we all expect from Joe Milton on every single play are unrealistic, especially in the first game. The big plays will come with time, and once Joe and his new receiving core get their timing down. I am 100% confident that the long bombs will come, even though they couldn’t connect yesterday.

The potential for Joe Milton is through the roof, and the only criticism against him is his accuracy, which he had no issues with yesterday. He threw a perfect 50-yard bomb to Ramel Keyton, who just dropped it, and other than that, was almost perfect, throwing no interceptions, two touchdowns, over 200 yards throwing, and 2 rushing touchdowns.

Tyler Baron was named SEC Lineman of the Week.

Baron was an absolute monster on the defensive side of the ball last weekend against the Cavaliers, putting up quite an incredible stat line. Tyler Baron tallied up 3 total tackles, and 2 of them were sacks that ended up being monumental turning points in the game.

Tyler Baron is a 6-foot-5-inch senior who is a quarterback’s worst nightmare to go against. If he’s able to keep playing at this top level, winning SEC Lineman of the Week will be just the beginning for him.
