Tennessee football: Top 10 passing leaders in Vols history
By Josh Yourish
Tennessee football career passing leader No. 5: Joshua Dobbs (2013-16)
- 7,138 passing yards
- 53 passing touchdowns
- 61.5% completion
- 7.1 yards per attempt
For a dual-threat quarterback, Joshua Dobbs was able to rack up a lot of passing yardage over three years as a starter at Tennessee before being drafted by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft.
Dobbs led the Vols to three straight bowl wins and accounted for basically all of the success in the Butch Jones era. As soon as Dobbs left, Jones’ team sank and he was fired midway through the 2017 season.
Dobbs led Tennessee to finish the 2015 season ranked in the final AP Poll, which was the first time since 2007. Now, Dobbs is having an NFL resurgence. He was once a forgotten third-string backup in Pittsburgh and Jacksonville, but in 2022 he impressed down the stretch as the starter in Tennessee and in 2023 began the season as Arizona’s starting QB.
