Josh Heupel is going back to the well as he continues to build the 2026 recruiting class. The Vols have centered in on four-star cornerback Jowell Combay.

The Marietta, Georgia, native released his top five teams as he prepares to announce where he will start his college football career on July 9.

Combay announced that Tennessee is in his top five, along with Georgia, Missouri, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.

He has made four official visits this summer, with Tennessee being his most recent visit on June 20. He also visited Missouri, South Carolina, and Wisconsin since May 30. He also visited Tennessee on an unofficial visit on May 24, which should be a good sign for Vols fans.

Rivals list him as a four-star corner, while 247 Sports has him as a three-star ahead of his senior season. 247 has him listed as the No. 46 safety in the country and the No. 53 player in the state of Georgia.

He discussed his official visit late last month, stating that his time on Rocky Top was special due to the time he spent with the coaches. He said they haven't changed on him throughout this entire process and have had great energy and vibes throughout the recruiting process.

"It was great definitely appreciate the time and attention they gave me and my family. [The visit was] special in the way that it wasn't really different from the last few visits I spent with the staff, same energy, vibes, and details," Combay said post-visit

Combay would be the fifth defensive back to commit to Tennessee for the 2026 recruiting class. Three-star cornerbacks Zay Anderson and Jamyan Theodore and safeties KJ McClain and Luke Thompson have also committed to Tennessee.
