Tennessee football is looking for another game in 2026 and 2027 after Nebraska canceled its contract to play a home-and-home series with Tennessee.
Tennessee has to add a Power 4 team for September 12, 2026, and September 11, 2027. Twelve teams have that date open, but due to their current schedule, Tennessee is unlikely to be able to get at least four of those opponents.
Louisville, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Houston, and TCU all have Power 4 opponents scheduled the week before or after their open date on September 12.
That brings Tennessee's options to six schools that they could realistically schedule for the 2026 season. Two of those teams are already on Tennessee's schedule: Syracuse in 2025 and Washington in 2029 and 2030, making four teams Tennessee could schedule.
Let's look at the four teams Tennessee could realistically schedule for the 2026 football season to replace the Nebraska game.
