Absurd Arkansas fans are already calling for Tony Vitello to leave Tennessee

This is never going to happen.

The 2025 season just ended in heartbreak for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Tennessee Vols fans everywhere probably have a big smile on their faces, as Arkansas had a chance to keep pushing for the natty, but they drove down a one-way street in choke city instead.

Yup, they blew it. Not long after the loss, plenty of members of the Arkansas faithful have been calling for the university to not only part ways with Dave Van Horn, but plenty of calls are coming in for the Razorbacks to bring Tennessee baseball head coach Tony Vitello home. Seriously?

Arkansas fans calling for the Razorbacks to hire Tony Vitello is laughable

Vitello famously spent four seasons as an assistant with Arkansas before making the move to Knoxville. He's still beloved by Razorbacks supporters, but that love doesn't match how people all over Tennessee feel about Tony V and the incredible work he's gotten done with the program.

While things didn't go according to plan in 2025 for the Vols, no one has forgotten that Tennessee made history in 2024 by winning the College World Series for the first time ever. Vitello cemented his status as a total rockstar in Knoxville after helping his guys raise the CWS trophy high into the sky.

Meanwhile for Arkansas, it was in a prime position to try and capture the glory by winning it all, but defensive mishaps haunted them against LSU. Is this team cursed? That's what some believe, but the idea of Vitello jumping ship is comical. Come on, it's never going to happen.

There are even more posts online of Arkansas fans pushing the idea that Vitello will be ready to don a Razorbacks jersey once again for the 2026 campaign. Those same people probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than seeing Vitello leave Tennessee for Arkansas. We could end up eating our words, but it would be a gigantic shock if Tony V even considers making any kind of a change in the near future.
