College football is just the best, isn't it? Week 10 provided even more wild results, including No. 16 Tennessee not only taking down No. 8 Kentucky, but the Vols fully crushed the Wildcats in what ended up being a statement win for Josh Heupel and his players. So, how is this going to impact the AP Top 25 when things drop on Sunday afternoon?
Not only did Tennessee take care of business against UK, but several teams in front of them suffered losses. The list includes Ohio State, BYU, Ole Miss, and others. Because of that, there's a good chance that the Vols will flirt with a Top 10 spot, but will it end up happening?

Tennessee made quite the statement by absolutely hammering No. 8 Kentucky
When looking at some of the big expected changes in the new AP Poll, Miami losing its No. 1 spot is a given. While the Canes nearly were able to overcome not having Malachi Toney available vs. Notre Dame, Marcus Freeman and his players were able to stun the top team in the nation. Hey, props to the Fighting Irish.
However, Georgia keeps on rollin', and we're giving them the edge over both ND and Utah here. Speaking of Utah, the Utes are on fire right now, with a strong win over BYU getting recorded. That result helped the Vols, who we have at No. 10 right now - a similar jump should be on the way for the CFP rankings, too, but that's a story for another time.
Elsewhere, Alabama and Texas will also be on the rise thanks to strong wins. LSU? A pretty big fall is coming after Lane Kiffin suffered yet another loss to the Crimson Tide. Meanwhile, in Columbus... tough scenes for Ryan Day, as quarterback Julian Sayin getting hurt has ruined the season for the Buckeyes, who lost to Oregon in embarrassing fashion.
Back to Knoxville, though, and life is good for Heupel's crew. Early on, it looked like the Wildcats were going to make things interesting, but the second half was total domination by the home team. The crowd at Neyland Stadium had Kentucky rattled, leading to several turnovers. Will Stein was seen several times shaking his head in disgust, which we didn't mind seeing.
It was a pretty big setback for the Wildcats, but a giant leap forward for Tennessee. The Vols have three games left on the schedule, and if UT goes undefeated, the College Football Playoff will be coming next after the regular season concludes. That's how important the contest against Kentucky was, with Tennessee delivering in the best way possible. Because of that, even more good news should be on the way once the new AP Poll drops.
