Former Tennessee baseball star Christian Moore has quickly risen through the minor league ranks and has made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Angels. He has created some highlight moments since his call to the big leagues and made another on Monday night.

Moore made a high-IQ play against the Red Sox, leading to a pivotal double play in the fifth inning. The play preserved the Angels' one-run lead and gave the LA offense a chance to add to it and secure the win.

This type of play has not been uncommon since Moore debuted in the MLB. He has made a few highlight plays while playing shortstop and second base for the Angels, building excitement throughout the fan base about his play.

Moore's hard work, high effort, and tenacity are what quickly made him a fan-favorite on Rocky Top. It looks like he's already off to a hot start in Los Angeles and is quickly becoming just as popular with his defensive playmaking.

He has appeared in 32 games so far this season after spending a short time in AA and AAA. He has already hit his first Major League home run but has since struggled at the plate, batting .156 with a .200 on-base percentage, with three RBIs.

Moore's defensive playmaking seems to be making up for his struggles at the plate. He was a career .338 hitter at Tennessee and a .302 hitter across Single-A, Double-A, and Triple-A over the past two seasons. He even hit .350 over 20 games in Triple-A with the Salt Lake Bees.

His ability to be successful at the plate is there, but it could take time for him to adjust to major-league pitching. As long as he continues to be a defensive mainstay, he should develop into a solid infielder for the Angels.
