UPDATE: Midway through the second quarter, Brandon was able to fight through the pain and get back on the field for Tennessee.
You knew adversity was going to arrive for Tennessee vs. No. 1 Texas, but the air just came out of Neyland Stadium with stud quarterback Faizon Brandon going down with an injury. In the second quarter and on a 2nd-down play, Brandon tried running to the right side of the field for extra yards.
However, he landed awkwardly and was clearly in a ton of pain down on the turf. Brandon was on the ground momentarily before eventually sitting up. However, he had to be helped off the field and he went straight into the medical tent. George MacIntyre entered the game, but the Vols punted the ball back to Texas shortly after.

Faizon Brandon injury updates: Tennessee QB goes down in the first half vs. Texas
Brandon left the game with an upper-body injury, but as Chris Folwer noted, it looks to be a right shoulder injury that he's dealing with. This arrived after starting left guard Wendell Moe Jr. went down with an ankle injury in the first quarter - yeah, not ideal at all for Tennessee.
Brandon has looked strong to start his freshman career, but with him being a dual-threat quarterback, there's always going to be the risk that he could take a hard hit or two. That was exactly the case in Week 4 against the Longhorns and now we're all left wondering if he'll be able to return or not. For now, countless eyes will be on MacIntyre to see if he can get the offense going, but there's obviously a ton of worry on Brandon.
1:08 p.m. ET injury update: Brandon did not return to the field after Arch Manning threw an interception.
1:12 p.m. ET injury update: Fowler said Brandon indeed is dealing with a right shoulder injury. He remains in the tent.
1:18 p.m. ET injury update: In a major relief, Brandon is out of the tent and is now warming up on the sidelines.
1:23 p.m. ET injury update: Whoa, Brandon is back in the game and took off for a run on his first play.
