Let's be real, this is just laughable. After proving that he couldn't handle the job leading the Florida Gators, Dan Mullen is now doing some analyst work for ABC and ESPN. This includes him dropping his thoughts on the Top 25 each week.
Following Week 9, Mullen came out with his latest rankings and to say they're a joke would be an understatement. To start things off, he somehow has Georgia at No. 8 in the country, one spot behind No. 7 BYU. Are we serious here? Not only that, but you'll never guess where Mullen has Tennessee.
That'd be No. 14 in the nation. Again, what are we even doing here? The Vols are currently the No. 7 squad in the land and ESPN is projecting them to finish at No. 12 in the College Football Playoff rankings, which would give them the last spot. However, per Mullen, Tennessee should be on the outside looking in. The rankings he posted on his social media page have plenty of people up in arms.
Dan Mullen has to be trolling the Tennessee Vols with his latest Top 25 rankings
Tennessee was on a BYE in Week 9. However, the last time we saw them on the field, they were taking care of business at Neyland Stadium against the Alabama Crimson Tide. This weekend, Josh Heupel and Co. are going to be ready to take down the Kentucky Wildcats.
This is a night game, which Mark Stoops isn't too happy about. The Vols players aren't going to care about that, as they're looking to improve to 7-1 on the season. Tennessee fans have a lot of confidence ahead of this one, as the Knoxville side has dominated the rivalry throughout the years.
With a strong performance against Kentucky, we could see Tennessee sneak into the Top 5. We'll have to wait and see where Mullen will have the Vols after Week 10 comes and goes, but this latest disrespect is just head-scratching. There's no way Tennessee should be at No. 14.
