Tennessee football has completed its first scrimmage of Fall Camp. The question everyone wants to know the answer to was asked of Josh Heupel after the scrimmage, but he didn't reveal who will be Tennessee's starting quarterback this season.

"I'm not naming a starter today," Josh Heupel shared with the media on Saturday. "All three of those guys have shown some really good characteristics of doing special things with the ball, also managing the game, eliminating negatives. There's some things each of them and collectively as a group we've got to get better at."

While Heupel hasn't made a decision on who will be the Vols' starting quarterback, or at least not sharing it with the media, he could be leaning one way based on one answer he gave in his post-scrimmage press conference.

There were some questions about transfer quarterback Joey Aguilar and his progression in the offense. Heupel notably holds back players in their first year in the system, but that might not be the case this year if Aguilar wins the starting job.

One question was asked about Aguilar's progression so far throughout the offseason and heading into the preseason. "From what we're doing offensively with our installs, I really like overall what he's done," Heupel said about Aguilar

Aguilar is expected to win the job from outside the program, but Jake Merklinger isn't going to make it easy for Aguilar or make the decision for the coaching staff.

Aguilar is easily the most experienced player in the QB room, but Merklinger has a year of experience in the Heupel offensive system, making this an intriguing competition.

Heupel and the Vols have three weeks before they have to put a quarterback on the field to start against Syracuse, so we will see if Heupel keeps his cards close to his chest or announces a starting quarterback heading into Week One.
