Are you paying close attention? That is the name of the game for the Tennessee Volunteers. They are entering year six under their head coach Josh Heupel. While he has brought a ton of success to the gridiron in Knoxville over the last half decade, he really needs to amp it up on the recruiting trail. This is why the Volunteers are expected to have a big weekend in that department with a few major visits.

Here is a look at the recruits who will be on campus in Knoxville, beginning on Thursday, May 21.

  • 3-star IOL Carter Jones (Poquoson, Poquoson, VA)
  • 3-star CB Brandon "Slim" Leavell (Goodpasture Christian School, Madison, TN)
  • 4-star EDGE Marvin Nguetsop (St. Thomas More, Dusseldorf, NRW)

And according to On3/Rivals, here is who will be on campus in Knoxville, beginning on Friday, May 22.

  • 4-star LB Mikahi Allen (Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey, NJ)
  • 3-star DL Elijah Guertin (Bishop Hendricken, Warwick, RI)
  • 4-star RB Trey Martin (Franklin Parish, Winnsboro, LA)

Brandon "Slim" Leavell committed to Tennessee earlier in the week. The Goodpasture Christian School standout will do his part to help these other prospects of note decide that Knoxville is the perfect place for them to be. It should be noted that he is the only one listed who has committed to Tennessee thus far. Keep in mind that he is an in-state prospect, while the others are all out-of-state...

Who among this half dozen is most likely to commit to the Vols to become Leavell's new classmate?

Who could be committing to Tennessee to join Brandon "Slim" Leavell?

Of the two players who are arriving in Knoxville on Thursday with Leavell, Marvin Nguetsop is far more likely to commit than Carter Jones on their respective official visits. While Jones seems to be a strong Penn State lean with some palpable interest from Clemson, Tennessee is seen as the early leader for Nguetsop. Ole Miss, Michigan, Michigan State, and Georgia all have interest in the German.

As for the three guys making their way to Knoxville on Friday, May 22, let's just say that Leavell has some work to do... Trey Martin looks to be a very strong Alabama lean, with Ole Miss, Florida, and LSU in the mix for him, along with Tennessee. Allen's early leader is in-state Rutgers, but his recruitment seems far from over. And as for Elijah Guertin, Tennessee will need to beat out Florida and Penn State.

Right now, the most likely player to commit to Tennessee in the wake of Leavell coming aboard would have to be Nguetsop going away. If he has a good time in Knoxville over the weekend, he may commit on the spot for all we know... After that, Guertin would probably be the second most likely, with Jones and Martin not expected to commit to Tennessee at all. That is what these official vists are for, folks...

As long as Leavell and Heupel have a plan, they could be expanding their 2027 class in short order.
