Former Tennessee WR looked furious after having his 2nd NFL season wasted

Can't blame Hyatt for feeling this way.

While there are multiple former Tennessee football playmakers putting on a show in the NFL, it's safe to say that things have not been going to plan for Jalin Hyatt. The former star Vols wideout arrived in East Rutherford ready to ball out for the New York Giants.

However, his rookie season in 2023 was a bit of a waste, as he wasn't featured often. The 2024 campaign figured to be a breakout one for the speedster, but the opposite was the case. Hyatt was barely featured for head coach Brian Daboll.

On Monday morning, Giants owner John Mara wasted no time in saying that both Daboll and Joe Schoen will be back in 2025. Will the same be the case for Hyatt? While speaking to the media, Hyatt did not look happy at all and he surely left the door wide open for an exit.

NY Giants WR Jalin Hyatt left the door open for his exit this offseason

Can you blame Hyatt for feeling this way? Absolutely not. He was asked twice about his future with the team and he said 'we'll see' both times. Hyatt went from being the best WR in college football during the 2022 season to someone who is becoming a forgotten man not long after.

In 2024 for the Giants, he finished with only eight receptions for 62 yards and no touchdowns. How is this even possible? When NY traded up in the third round to select him in 2023, plenty of people thought he'd emerge into a stud option for Big Blue.

When the Giants used their No. 6 overall pick to land Malik Nabers, the hope was that Nabers and Hyatt could work well together to boost the offense. Instead, it was another nightmare season for the G-Men, who finished 3-14. Hyatt has every right to demand more targets next fall. If the Giants don't give it to him, however, then a change of scenery could be best for both sides.
