A whole lot of practices, two teams, and just four in-game snaps. That's the stat line for Nate Spillman's career, so far, and the number of teams he has been on is about to go up.
Spillman, who committed to the Tennessee Volunteers in 2024, hit the transfer portal in December, leaving the program before ever earning a stat for the Vols. The young wide receiver took his talents to Charlotte, where he went through spring practices and early summer sessions.
Now, Spillman has hit the transfer portal once again, still looking to find his home within a collegiate football program.
Because of his decision to transfer twice in the span of just a few months, Spillman will only have three years of eligibility remaining once he finds his next team.

Coming out of high school in 2023, Spillman was a three-star prospect, attracting offers from the Volunteers as well as a host of other Power Conference programs. Now, according to On3, he has a zero-star rating as a transfer prospect.
When he started his short tenure at Tennessee, Spillman measured at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds. Despite growing two inches and packing on 20 pounds of muscle, people still aren't sure he has what it takes to succeed at the college level.
Spillman is originally from Nashville, just a few hours from the Vols' home base in Knoxville. In high school at Lipscomb Academy, he led his team to a 13-0 record during his senior season
While at Tennessee, he appeared in four games for the Volunteers during the 2024 season, but did not catch a single pass, going statless during his redshirt freshman year.
