Be careful what we wish for? Sure, this could come back to haunt Tennessee football, but people can't wait to see the Vols (hopefully) make a statement in Week 3 against Georgia. Both teams will be 2-0 barring a huge stunner - as of this writing the two sides are in cruise control in Week 2.
At the same time, a quick look on social media shows that Georgia fans have once again just about had it with offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. This is nothing new, as plenty of people were calling for him to be fired quite consistently last season.
The main reason for the anger this time around? It's because the offense looked a bit sluggish in the first half against Austin Peay, including not being able to punch it in down near the goal line at the end of the second quarter. While that's been going on, Joey Aguilar and the Vols have been close to perfect against East Tennessee State.
Tennessee and Georgia will face off in a huge Week 3 clash next week
Just take a look at the social media posts below to get a good sense of what the feeling surrounding Bobo and the offense is. Yeah, not good at all:
Hey👋 just your fellow neighborhood Mike Bobo hater checking in! He should be out of the UGA program. Yeah he has high moments, but his low moments are way worse than his high moments. #FireBobo is still on the itinerary. #FireBozo. We won’t win a title with Bozo as OC. #GoDawgs

Folks defending Mike Bobo by blaming the OL as if offensive linemen aren’t part of the very offense he’s supposed to be coordinating.

It’s Mike Bobo https://t.co/3owEU128sG

This is why Georgia fans are so obsessed with hating Mike Bobo. His offenses have blown hot and cold since the beginning of time.

Mike Bobo should’ve got his walking papers after that Notre Dame game. He’s just Alabama’s lap dog.

That's just a small sample size of people ripping Bobo to shreds. You've almost got to feel bad for the guy - almost. Meanwhile over in Knoxville, things have been unreal for Tennessee, as Aguilar and Co. put together a brilliant showing in the first half vs. ETSU, with 427 total yards on offense.
At the halftime break, Tennessee was up 48-7, with Aguilar throwing for 288 yards and two touchdowns, including a deep strike to former 5-star signee Mike Matthews. Duke transfer Star Thomas also has three touchdowns to his name, with another half yet to play.
Tennessee is going to enter Week 3 vs. Georgia with a ton of confidence. The fact that the Georgia fanbase is irate with how its offense looks leading up to that massive SEC showdown could prove to be gold for the Vols. Yes, we know that Kirby Smart has owned Josh Heupel in recent years, but that won't matter at this time next week. There's a clean slate for everyone and the Vols will give it their all to post an upset.
