We gotta be honest, this came as a total surprise. With Round 2 of the NBA Draft arriving on Thursday night, Tennessee basketball fans didn't have to wait long for Chaz Lanier to get drafted, but the expectation was that Jahmai Mashack wasn't going to hear his name called.
Then, in a bit of a shocker, Mashack was taken with the final pick of the NBA Draft. He's all set to start his pro career with the Memphis Grizzlies, which makes things even more special for him. The clip below of Mashack getting drafted is something everyone will probably watch on repeat for a little while. Mashack meant so much to the program over the last four years. He deserves this moment:

Jahmai Mashack getting drafted is a special moment for Tennessee fans everywhere
Love it! It's really tough to put into words what Mashack indeed has meant to the program in recent years. He gave his everything to the team and he was not only one of the best defensive players in the SEC, but he was also one of the top guys on that end of the floor in the country.
There are too many great memories to count for Mashack in Knoxville, but there's surely one that's always going to stick out to the Tennessee faithful. You know what we're talking about, right? Of course you do, as his game-winner at home against Alabama was an absolute thing of beauty. Here's a fresh reminder for you in case it has slipped your memory:

With the No. 6 team in the country in town, Mashack connected with one of the best shots in Vols history. And you know what, it couldn't have happened for a better kid. Mashack represented Tennessee the right way and he's surely a Vol for life. He's now ready for this next chapter and Memphis no question has added a talented youngster on and off the court to its organization.
