Tennessee football sent six players to the NFL Draft Combine this year. Of those six players, a couple of Vols have already started to show out among the best that college football has to offer.

James Pearce Jr. is one of the players showing out. On Thursday, he ran an insane 40-yard dash. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound edge rusher showed his raw speed at the combine, and it impressed many.

Pearce clocked a 4.50 40-yard dash in his first attempt but improved on his second attempt with a 4.47 40 time, making him the fastest player at this year's combine by one-tenth of a second.

Not only is Pearce faster than every other player at this year's combine, but he also clocked a faster 40 time than many of the NFL's best, including Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Christian McCaffery, Derek Henry, CeeDee Lamb, and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

No matter how he grades out the rest of the combine, Pearce made some money on Thursday with his 40 times. He joins some of the best pass rushers in the league with his speed and explosiveness, making him a valuable pick at any level in the draft.

If the NFL team that drafts Pearce can combine his speed with his already impressive explosiveness, they could have the NFL's next-best pass rusher on their hands.

Pearce came into the combine projected to be a late-first-round draft pick. His stock might have jumped a couple of spots after his 40-yard dash, and he could continue to climb if he remains near the top in other tests.

The NFL Draft Combine continues through the weekend as Pearce and five other Tennessee players look to raise their draft stock ahead of the first round of the NFL Draft on April 24.
