Tennessee's offense has only played six quarters this season, but it's clear that if Joey Aguilar and Mike Matthews continue developing a connection in the offense, the Vols will have an electric offense with those two leading the charge.
The fans in orange and white have had plenty to cheer about in Neyland Stadium, as the Vols have shown out in their home opener. Joey Aguilar has thrown for 288 yards, with 111 of those yards going to Mike Matthews.
Even Tennessee football's social media had to join in on the fun, captioning Matthews' electric touchdown catch with "Mike down there somewhere" as Aguilar rolls out of the pocket and shows off his arm strength.

The deep pass, of course, got Tennessee fans excited on social media. Partially because of Matthews' playmaking, but also because of Aguilar's ability to roll out, flip his hips, and throw a deep pass on the money, which is something Tennessee has been missing the past couple of seasons.
Matthews was a five-star wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class, and he has shown why early in the season. Aguilar and Matthew's connection is surprisingly strong despite Aguilar joining the Vols this summer.
Not to mention Braylon Staley and Chris Brazzell II joining in on the fun, showing how dynamic and explosive Tennessee's offense can be from sideline to sideline.
It also helps that the run game is just as explosive as well. Star Thomas, DeSean Bishop, and Peyton Lewis shared 139 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 24 rushing attempts in the first half.
Tennessee leads 41-7 heading into the locker room at the halfway point. The Vols will look to finish off the Buccaneers in the second half, which will largely consist of different faces and names taking the field as the Vols get their twos and threes some valuable playing time.
