Arguably, the biggest series of the season is coming up for the Tennessee Vols as they prepare to face the Texas Longhorns, one of the top teams in the country. The Vols are coming off a 1–2 series loss to Kentucky, making a bounce-back performance at home especially important. If Tennessee can take a series win over Texas, they can solidify themselves in the NCAA Tournament, most likely.

All things considered, this is a massive weekend for Tennessee, and for better or worse, Josh Elander is sticking with the same rotation that the Vols trotted out in Lexington. Tegan Kuhns gets Friday, Evan Blanco Saturday, and Landon Mack Sunday. Honestly, I’m a little surprised he didn’t mix things up after the Vols got outscored 21–4 in the first two games last weekend.

Josh Elander sticks with the same rotation against Texas

If Tennessee can win Friday with Tegan Kuhns pitching, they’ve got a real shot to take the series against Texas. The Vols need to come out strong and make Texas feel the pressure of Lindsey Nelson Stadium early. Winning Game 1 would completely change the feel of the weekend. The Vosl are 3-2 in Series' when they win on Friday. The two losses were to top-10 Georgia and a forgetful non-conference series to Kent State. Set the tone and go up on Texas Friday, and the weekend feels a lot more manageable.

Texas is among the deepest teams in the country, so executing this series will be challenging. Aiden Robbins is a machine for the Longhorns, and the Vols' bullpen has been shaky. The starters need to go deep into these games to avoid a collapse.

Texas has won its recent three series in the SEC and is trending positively ahead of the tournament. If the Vols can accomplish this, they will position themselves well for a strong finish to the year.
