With Tennessee now officially being done with Nike, the Vols are returning to their roots by partnering with Adidas for all of their apparel. In college athletics today, maximizing every advantage is a major priority, especially with revenue sharing and NIL playing such a large role in recruiting. Tennessee signed a 10-year, $200 million deal with Adidas that gives the Vols more creative freedom with their uniforms while also creating significant NIL opportunities through the partnership.

Fans will be able to buy Tennessee merchandise from Adidas starting July 10. Beginning next week, the Vols will slowly unveil their new uniforms, releasing pieces of the redesigned look each day before the full reveal.

Josh Heupel was really pumped about the new oppurtunity. He said:

"We appreciate adidas recognizing the power of the Tennessee brand and we are excited about the future of this transformative partnership. Both current and future Vols will benefit from this historic deal. adidas is providing us with world-class resources and apparel that will continue to push our brand to the forefront of college football for years to come. We can't wait to showcase our adidas uniforms this fall."

Josh Heupel is fired up about the Adidas

What really stands out is that Heupel mentioned Adidas is providing Tennessee with world-class resources. I love hearing that.

With Nike, Tennessee often felt like just another school in a massive portfolio. Nike already has so many major programs under its brand, and with Oregon always serving as its flagship program, it sometimes felt like the Vols were an afterthought. With Adidas, however, Tennessee appears to be one of the premier programs in the company’s lineup.

The Adidas partnership could become a valuable recruiting tool for Tennessee moving forward. In today’s landscape, recruits are paying attention not only to coaching staffs and facilities, but also to branding opportunities and potential business relationships. For example, if Tennessee is able to land five-star running back David Gabriel-Georges and there is an opportunity for him to build a relationship with Adidas through NIL opportunities, it could provide another advantage for the Vols on the recruiting trail.

Danny White mentioned that Adidas has a vision of becoming the best apparel brand, while Tennessee Athletics has a goal of becoming the No. 1 athletic program in the nation. That sounds like a perfect fit for both sides. Tennessee and Adidas can feed off each other’s ambitions, which is refreshing to see in a partnership.

"Partnering with adidas is a natural fit, as their commitment to being the world's leading sports brand aligns with our vision," said White. "We are excited to unveil our new adidas partnership and showcase a fresh look to Vol Nation in the coming days."

Moving forward, hopefully Tennessee doesn’t leave Adidas again. While Adidas already has several major universities under its brand, such as Penn State, Miami, Texas A&M, and Washington, it still doesn’t have nearly as many schools as Nike. Because of that, Tennessee should become a major focal point of Adidas’ marketing efforts.

Overall, it should be exciting to see where this new partnership has Tennessee going in the next few years.
