Josh Heupel doubles down on Nico Iamaleava's status for the Georgia game
It's officially Georgia week for the Tennessee Volunteers and head man Josh Heupel. This is a game fans have had circled on their calendars for quite some time. There's no question going to be College Football Playoff implications for this one.
The big question everyone has on their minds, though, is will Nico Iamaleava be healthy to play? Iamaleava went down with an upper-body injury vs. Mississippi State and was forced to miss the second half of the 33-14 win. His absence left countless people worried sick.
However, Heupel didn't waste any time on Saturday night in saying that his star QB will be ready to take on Kirby Smart and Co. To open the week on Monday, Heupel was once again asked about the signal-caller's status and he doubled down in saying he'll be good to go for Week 12:
Josh Heupel once again claimed Nico Iamaleava will be ready to face Georgia
Before going down in Week 11, Nico was having a first half to remember. He completed 8-of-13 pass attempts for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He's been looking great of late, but him getting banged up vs. MSU sure has people worried.
However, the good news here is that Heupel seems confident that he'll be ready to rock to take on Georgia. Things have been a bit of a mess for the Bulldogs in recent days. They suffered a rough loss to Ole Miss, and then Smart bashed safety Jake Pope after he was caught celebrating with Ole Miss fans.
Keep in mind that Georgia was barely able to take down Florida in Jacksonville. The line has been set, with Georgia favored by 10.5 points. This should serve as bulletin-board material for the Vols, as they'll be ready to try and post an upset. Their uphill climb will be made easier with Iamaleava taking the field in Athens.
