Josh Heupel is making everyone wait on the George MacIntyre-Faizon Brandon call

Don't expect a decision from Heupel too far before kickoff.

To open his weekly press conference, Josh Heupel already knew he was going to be asked about who his starting quarterback is going to be moving forward. And to no surprise, the Tennessee head coach isn't going to tip his hand... not yet at least.

While speaking with the media, Heupel made it quite clear that the Vols need to go through this week of practice to determine who's going to lead the offense out onto the field between Faizon Brandon and George Macintyre against the Razorbacks on the road. So, when exactly will a final decision be made? As Heupel said, we'll all find out on Saturday...

"Yeah, we'll find out as the week goes here," Heupel said. "George came in and did some really good things. Faizon obviously wasn't at his best dealing with getting injured in the Texas game. It was affecting his game. We'll go through the week here and you'll find out Saturday."

Josh Heupel won't announce Tennessee's starting QB until game day vs. Arkansas

Later on in his press conference, Heupel was again asked about the QB situation, hitting everyone with a 'next question' kind of response. Clearly he's done talking about the battle here, but it's obviously going to be a major talking point not only leading up to kickoff, but for the rest of the season as well.

With Brandon looking rough against both Texas and in the first half against Auburn, G-Mac stepped in and did enough to lead the Vols over the Tigers. No one can argue with the fact that Brandon's confidence is a little shot right now, which is rough to see.

However, it's on Heupel to make a tough decision and go over it with his staff. Countless Vols fans are calling for MacIntyre to get the start, especially with Alabama around the corner in Week 7. No one knows if that's going to happen or not, and Heupel making us all play the waiting game isn't helping much either.
