It may be a BYE week for Tennessee and Josh Heupel, but they're posting wins off the field at the right time. For the 2027 class, another youngster has made it known he'll be Knoxville-bound for his college career, with rising cornerback Preston Glasco committing to the Vols on Wednesday night.

Don't let his 3-star ranking fool you; this kid is a ballhawk, and plenty of teams were working overtime to grab his verbal pledge. In the end, this was a three-team battle, with Tennessee managing to overcome Alabama and Georgia, who went all-in for his services as well.

Outdueling Kirby Smart and Kalen DeBoer, fresh off a deflating loss to South Carolina, is something for Heupel and his staff to be proud of. This was a bit of a surprise, as Glasco is a Loganville, Ga. product. Smart let him leave the state? In the end, Glasco's relationship with the Tennessee coaches, plus the community feel on campus, helped get this over the line.

CB Preston Glasco committing to Tennessee is a solid 2027 win for

"The No. 1 reason I chose Tennessee: Because it was, overall, the best fit," Glasco told 247Sports' Benjamin Wolk. "With all the factors being taken into consideration, I feel that was my calling, and that's where I was meant to go," Glasco said. "They have a great program with greater people within, and I feel I could only grow in that system."

It wasn't just Georgia, Alabama, and UT pushing for the former UConn commit. Throughout his recruitment, the 6-2, 195-pounder picked up 21 offers, taking several official visits. Once again, though, his time visiting Tennessee for the win over Alabama always stood out to him, and he'll be ready for another trip to town on Nov. 7 for when the Vols host No. 9 Kentucky.

That one should be a battle, but this time around Glasco will be watching Tennessee in action, knowing that he'll one day make plays for new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. With Glasco on board, the Vols hold 19 commits for the 2027 class, which is currently No. 22 in the country per the 247Sports rankings. Could another playmaker be ready to join that class soon?

Tennessee remains in a close battle with Alabama and others for Hayden Lowe

Another top target for the Vols is Long Beach City College pass-rusher Hayden Lowe, who made his way to Knoxville for the win over Auburn. Well, the 6-5, 255-pounder is headed back to Tennessee on Nov. 7 to watch the Vols take on the Wildcats.

This is another important visit for the Vols and Heupel, as Alabama, UCLA, and Texas are all still in the hunt. Lowe is planning to shut down his recruitment in the first week of December, right before the Early Signing Period gets here.

Just like with Glasco, Tennessee is hoping to overcome Alabama as part of this race. Lowe will be in Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl, which is no question going to have a major impact on how his decision plays out - it will be his last visit before announcing his future school, too.

As Heupel looks to put the finishing touches on the '27 haul, adding Glasco to the mix is one thing, but winning out for Lowe would be tremendous. He's viewed as the potential long-term replacement for Chaz Coleman, who proved to be a transfer bust. Only time will tell if Lowe, a former 5-star prospect, picks Tennessee or not, but the Vols sure are in a good spot with him.
