Josh Heupel and Tennessee are preparing for their matchup against Ohio State on Saturday as part of the 12-team College Football Playoff. The Vols and Buckeyes are the primetime game in the first round, and if both teams bring their best, it could be the best game of the weekend.
Josh Heupel's Monday press conference to kick off game week was filled with several different topics, including what Ohio State might expect from Heupel's offense.
The Vols are known for their high-powered, explosive offense under Heupel and could come out swinging early and often against an Ohio State team that is much more talented on paper but very beatable based on how they have played against similar opponents.
One reporter mentioned to Heupel that the Vols are what they are at this point in the season. Heupel wittily responded that Tennessee wouldn't have anything new to prepare for on offense, defense, or special teams and then gave a quick smirk afterward.
This could lead one to believe that Tennessee does, in fact, have some new things they might have kept up their sleeve or installed specifically for this game. It wouldn't be a surprise if either team brought their best schematically, including a few new looks on each side of the ball.
Heupel, of course, isn't going to give anything away ahead of any game, especially a game with so much on the line for the Vols. Neither will Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, but there's no doubt both teams will likely have something up their sleeve for this game.
Tennessee and Ohio State will kick off at 8:00 PM ET in Columbus. The winner will advance to the Rose Bowl and the CFP Quarterfinals.
