We don't have to tell you, but countless people were left speechless in the first half on Saturday night. Star Tennessee Volunteers running back Dylan Sampson coughed up a fumble, his second turnover in as many games. Josh Heupel was not happy, and sent a statement by benching him for a while.

However, Sampson's night not only changed for the better, but it turned out to be historic. That's because he finished with two rushing scores, giving him 19 for the season, which is now No. 1 for the Vols ever. Yup, that's how you respond in the best way possible.

Immediately after the win, Heupel had his on-field interview with the SEC Network before walking off the field. He was of course asked about Sampson and he didn't waste any time at all in showing his RB love, while saying he's going to keep on calling his number in pressure situations.

Josh Heupel is ready to fully back Tennessee RB Dylan Sampson

"Listen, this game is never going to be perfect. He’s been so consistent for us, a dynamic playmaker. We’re going to continue to need those type of performances from him."

Josh Heupel on Sampson

Sampson ended up carrying the ball 27 times for 142 yards and his two touchdowns. His second TD, which set the record, was absolutely unreal. It looked like he was going to be stopped short, but then every single player on offense gave their everything in trying to push him across the line.

If that doesn't speak volumes to the mindset of this team as a whole, what does? Sampson's teammates wanted to make sure the six points were put on the board and nothing was going to stop them from getting that job done.

With the win, the Vols are 7-1 on the year and they remain the No. 7 team in the country. Next up is a matchup with Mississippi State. Look for Sampson to have another big game - his coach will be ready for him to deliver.
