All former college football stars remember their first sack. For Joshua Josephs at Tennessee, that has taken on a new meaning now that he is a member of the Washington Commanders. This is because his first career sack for the Volunteers came against the LSU Tigers when Jayden Daniels was their star quarterback. Guess who is the starting quarterback for the Commanders these days?

Josephs relayed while he did not say anything to Daniels during the play, he did flex on him, though...

Josephs has become the fourth Tennessee player drafted so far this weekend, and the second today behind Jermod McCoy shockingly coming off the board to the Las Vegas Raiders at the top of the fourth round. Colton Hood went to the New York Giants in the second round on Friday night, with Chris Brazzell II joining the Carolina Panthers as their third-round pick later on in the evening as well.

Now that Josephs is teammates with Daniels, look for him to cherish that sack for the rest of his life.

Not to say that Tennessee and LSU are anything close to rivals in the SEC, but they are two of the power conference's preeminent programs. These are two places in the SEC where you can win national championships at. While LSU won its most recent in 2019, Tennessee last won one way back in 1998. That being said, the Vols have made the College Football Playoff more recently than LSU has.

So what can we really make about Josephs going to the Commanders anyway? He plays the same position group that under-fire head coach Dan Quinn specializes in. His prowess in coaching up the defensive line got him the Atlanta job in 2015 after a great run in Seattle. After it went kaputt for him in Atlanta in 2020, Quinn reinvented himself in Dallas before getting the Commanders gig in 2024...

In his four years with the Volunteers, Josephs had 9.5 sacks, including four this past year. However, the lone sack he had as a freshman in 2022 came against Daniels. At that point in time, he was a good, but not great transfer quarterback for LSU. He would go on to win the Heisman Trophy a season later. Now matter what happens, Josephs can always say he sacked his Heisman teammate.

This is the latest interesting draft-day wrinkle that came together with a prospect joining a new team.
