Nation's No. 1 player for 2027 will visit Tennessee football for a game this fall

Heupel will need to roll out the red carpet for this kid.

Now that the 2025 football season is officially here, Tennessee football fans are rightfully fired up to see what Josh Heupel and his players can get done on the gridiron. As everyone knows, though, Heupel is also going to be working overtime off of it on the recruiting trail.

Thankfully, the Vols have been setting up visits with plenty of elite prospects both for the 2026 and 2027 classes. This includes '27 offensive tackle Kennedy Brown, a 5-star playmaker from Humble, Texas. While we don't know exactly which weekend Brown will be heading to Knoxville, he told reporter Nate Gravender that he'll be making the trip to UT at some point this fall. Maybe for the Week 3 clash against Georgia?

5-star OT Kennedy Brown is planning to visit Tennessee football this fall

The Vols aren't the only program Brown is working on visiting, with Notre Dame and Clemson also high on his list. Those aren't his finalists by any means, just the schools he knows for sure that he'll be visiting this fall - other powerhouses will be working to get him on campus.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Brown is ranked five stars, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country and No. 1 player overall for the 2027 class. He's only entering his junior season in high school, but he's already got more than 40 offers to his name.

Just about everyone is chasing his signature, but there's still a long way to go for the Early Signing Period to arrive for '27 standouts. This is something Heupel and his staff fully understand, but they're putting in the work early to turn Brown's head.

In back-to-back seasons, Tennessee has landed 5-star offensive tackles. Last year, David Sanders Jr. committed to Tennessee and he's set to start at right tackle this fall. For the '26 haul, in-state OT Gabriel Osenda is also on board. Could Brown become the latest 5-star OT to pledge to Tennessee? It's too early to tell, but Heupel getting him on campus sooner rather than later will 100 percent increase his chances of pulling off this recruiting win.
