Mike Ekeler left Tennessee this past offseason to return home and join Matt Rhule's staff at Nebraska. While it's unfortunate the Vols lost him, it's hard to argue with a guy ready to return home.

After Rhule made a change at special teams coordinator, former Nebraska great and NFL linebacker Will Compton immediately started recruiting Ekeler back home to Lincoln. The pitch worked, and Rhile hired Ekeler, and it is immediately paying off for the Huskers.

Tennessee fans have known for a few years now that Ekeler is a great special teams coach and awesome person, and now that's something Nebraska fans are learning as well.

Cornhuskers special teams have notably been below average in recent years, but that is starting to change with Ekeler running the show on special teams — and Nebraska fans are loving it.

Things are going so well for Ekeler at Nebraska that fans are taking to social media to praise the Huskers' special teams unit. Some fans are already going to social media, calling for a raise and even a statue.

Ekeler completely flipped how Tennessee's special teams units operate. The Vols had one of the best special teams units in the country over the past couple of seasons because of Ekeler, and now it looks like he's about to do the same thing with Nebraska.

While I hate that Ekeler had to leave Tennessee to return home, I'm glad he's able to continue being the best special teams coach in the country at Nebraska (until Tennessee has to face the Cornhuskers).
