Last campaign, the Tennessee Vols were one of the best teams in the SEC, posting a 10-2 regular season record and booking a trip to the College Football Playoff. However, a lot has changed this offseason and there's plenty of worry leading up to 2025.
Josh Heupel is going to have a new starting quarterback, with former 5-star signee Nico Iamaleava off to play for the UCLA Bruins. Enter Joey Aguilar? That's exactly what we think is going to happen. However, we also think the Vols will miss out on the CFP and post an 8-4 record. With that said, where do they stand in terms of the SEC rankings? We've got that answer for you in our post-spring update.
No. 16: Mississippi State Bulldogs: It was a year to forget for the Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2024 under new head coach Jeff Lebby. MSU went 2-10 overall and 0-8 in conference play. While some improvements will be shown, the Bulldogs have to prove us wrong once the campaign gets here.
No. 15: Kentucky Wildcats: Things have been rough in Lexington for a little while and Kentucky fans have just about had it with Mark Stoops. Kentucky went 4-8 last year, which had people calling for Stoops to be fired. We don't think much of a better year will be on the way for UK.
No. 14: Vanderbilt Commodores: Tennessee was able to land a haymaker on Vandy in the regular season finale in 2024. With that loss, Vandy finished 7-6 and 3-5 in conference play. Everyone continues to hype up Diego Pavia, but there aren't enough weapons around him.
