The Kansas City Chiefs took Dale Carter in the first round of the 1992 NFL Draft, and after his rookie season, it looked like Carter was a home run draft pick. He finished his rookie season with seven interceptions, one pick-six, and two punt returns for a touchdown.

This earned him Defensive Rookie of the Year honors from the Associated Press, Pro Football Writers of America, and UPI. He turned that success into a permanent starting role in 1994 when he earned his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection. He followed that up with three more All-Pro and Pro Bowl seasons from 1995-1997.

Carter's last season in Kansas City was in 1998 when he moved on to Denver for one season in 1999, then Minnesota, New Orleans, and Baltimore before retiring after the 2005 season. He finished his career with 21 interceptions and struggled to be an effective corner late in his career.
