The 2024 Paris Olympics are arriving this week and the whole world is awaiting to watch their athletes compete for their home countries.

The USA is sending 592 athletes to the Olympics with 228 NCAA schools represented by athletes. Not every athlete competing is tied to a college, but 384 of the USA athletes come from the college ranks.

So where does Tennessee athletics rank in all of this? Well, Stanford leads the way sending 54 current or former athletes to Paris, but Tennessee ranks sixth among colleges sending 32 current or former student-athletes to the biggest sports stage in the world.

Tennessee of course does not have athletes competing for just Team USA, but they have athletes competing for 17 different countries and, of course, have the most under Team USA. The Bahamas, Canada, and Cayman Islands are all tied for the second most Tennessee athletes with each country sending three athletes.

Tennessee is proving that they are a swim school sending 17 swimmers to Paris, followed by 12 track and field/cross country athletes, one basketball player, one soccer player, and one volleyball player.

Not only is Tennessee sending a lot of athletes to Paris from many different countries, but the SEC is sending 236 student-athletes to the Olympics. Tennessee has the second most athletes going to Paris in the SEC behind only the University of Florida which has 39 former or current athletes attending.

The Paris Olympics run from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, August 11, and can be found on NBC. The full schedule of each Olympic event so Volunteer fans can watch their former athletes can be found here.
