5 forwards Tennessee basketball recruited who are in the transfer portal
Andrej Stojakovic was one of California's best high school players in the 2023 class. He was the No. 3 player in California and No. 4 small forward in the country. The McDonald's All-American didn't have the season he had hoped for in his first year at Stanford, which is why he has entered his name into the portal.
With Stanford looking for a head coach this spring and Stojakovic in the portal, there is an opening for other teams that recruited him out of high school to get him on campus. As a freshman, he averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game but struggled shooting the three.
“Stojakovic knocked down less than 33% of his attempted threes this year … as he finished just 39% of his attempts at the rim per Pivot Analysis, and on the defensive end of the floor, where he rated in the bottom 10% according to Synergy Sports,” wrote 247Sports Adam Finkelstein.
“Both of those struggles are, at least partially, attributed to the physical transition to the college level. While Stojakovic was older than most college freshman, having turned 19 in August, his frame was still not fully mature and he didn’t have quite as much game experience against top competition.”
Stojakovic had offers from programs all over the country coming out of high school, including Kansas, Duke, Florida, and Texas. Tennessee was in the mix, but Stojakovic kept his official visits west of the Mississippi. That could hurt the Vols if Barnes is looking to bring the 6-foot-7 forward to Knoxville.
