All-time Tennessee March Madness starting lineup

Tennessee men's basketball has made quite a few trips to the NCAA Tournament but has never gone deep into March Madness. This team could be the best chance and a few of the 2024 players could become all-time greats.

Sixth-man: Reggie Johnson, PF

Now, we have to have a bit of size coming off the bench for this team, so here’s 6-foot-9 Reggie Johnson. His career began in 1976, but he overlapped with Ellis on the 1979-80 team. That year, Johnson averaged 19.4 points, after averaging 21.2 in each of his past two seasons.

Johnson led the Vols to the tournament in 1977, 1979, and 1980, but like Ellis, never got past the second round. As a senior, Johnson did everything he could, scoring 28 points in the first round and 21 in just 25 minutes of a second round loss to Maryland.

For his career in the tournament, Johnson averaged 19.8 points and 8.4 rebounds. So yeah, maybe Johnson should have started at center with Ellis coming off the bench, but what can I say, I like to play small-ball.
