ESPN’s College Gameday heading to Norman for Tennessee football vs Oklahoma
Since joining the SEC this summer, Tennessee football welcomes Oklahoma to the SEC on Saturday, the Sooners' first conference game. Both teams come into the Week Four matchup 3-0, but they have won their games very differently.
ESPN doesn't plan to miss out on the festivities and likely expects this game to be the closest game this year, as College Gameday will be joining the Vols in visiting Norman.
Oklahoma opened the season strong but survived the last two weeks in games that were much closer than expected. The Sooners opened the season by beating Temple by 48, then went on to beat Houston by four and Tulane by 15.
On the other hand, the Vols have been dominant in all three showings to start the year. They have outscored their opponents 191-13 to start the year and have yet to allow a touchdown by an opposing offense.
In fact, Tennessee's defense hasn't allowed an offensive touchdown to be scored in the past 16 quarters, going back to their 35-0 Citrus Bowl win over Iowa.
Josh Heupel could look to make another statement in this game against his alma mater and the team that fired him after the 2014 season as the offensive coordinator. Everything worked out for Heupel, but being fired by the program you led to an Orange Bowl win and nearly won a Heisman with is not ideal, to say the least.
It will be Tennessee's second-ranked matchup of the season as they look to give the Sooners the NC State treatment. Oklahoma is looking to pull off the upset and win its first-ever SEC game. College Gameday will start at 9:00 AM ET, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET.
