The SEC has released its schedule for the 2024-25 season, and Tennessee basketball will welcome back some old friends and new rivals while traveling to the newest members of the Southeastern Conference.
Tennessee basketball shared the new conference schedule on Monday through social media. We don't have the official schedule, but we do know who Tennessee will face and whether the game will be at home or on the road.
The Vols will welcome Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
Tennessee will hit the road to face Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.
With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC, the Vols are scheduled to face every team in the conference at least once. As noted in the graphic, Tennessee will face Florida, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt twice, with one game at home and one on the road.
One thing to note right off the bat is Tennessee playing at Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M. The Vols will welcome the two new schools into the SEC by playing each team in their inaugural season. I'm surprised at least one of these games is not at home, given how the SEC handled the football schedules for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
The Vols will also welcome back the new-look Arkansas Razorbacks, led by new head coach John Calipari and transfer forward Jonas Aidoo, who spent the last three years at Tennessee. The Vols immediately replaced Aidoo through the portal, adding more physicality to the paint.
Tennessee will also welcome Alabama back to Knoxville after putting on one of the best games in the SEC last season in Tuscaloosa. The Vols had a high-powered offense last season and were able to match the Tide, but Rick Barnes is looking to add more offense and efficiency to take Tennessee to the next level in 2024-25.
We will have to wait a little longer to see when Tennessee will play each SEC opponent. With Tennessee scheduled to play every team in the conference, it will be a tough conference schedule again for the Vols after they weathered the storm and won the SEC at the end of the 2023-24 SEC schedule.
