Everything you need to know about Tennessee football vs Arkansas
Tennessee football is coming off its bye week with another SEC road matchup on deck. The Vols are scheduled for another road trip in a primetime matchup for the second-straight game. The Vols were dominant in their last road win against Oklahoma and will look to replicate their success
The Vols' defense guided them to victory, shutting down the Sooners' offense and even forcing a quarterback change. Oklahoma's only touchdowns came in the fourth quarter when the Vols played more preventive defense and not as aggressively because the game was already out of hand.
Tennessee's offense also pulled back in the second half as Josh Heupel leaned on his defense, which showed his maturity as a head coach. He may not have done that in previous years, but he continued to try to stretch the field and take shots while holding a big lead.
The Vols will be healthy and ready to take on an underrated Arkansas squad that is a lot better than their 3-2 record. The Razorbacks could very easily be 5-0 this year, and they will look to use this game as a statement game against the Vols.
Matchup History
Tennessee and Arkansas have played 19 times, dating back to their first matchup in 1907. The Vols won that game 14-2. The two programs didn't meet again until 1972, and the Vols also won that game.
It wasn't until 1990, when Arkansas joined the Southeastern Conference that the Vols and Razorbacks began playing more often. They met 12 of the next 13 seasons, and the Vols dominated the series, winning all but two of those games.
They didn't meet again until 2006, and it's been all Razorbacks since then. Arkansas has won four of the last five matchups, including the most recent game in 2020, which the Razorbacks won 24-13. Arkansas holds a three-game win streak, but the Vols hold the series lead 13 wins to six.
Betting Lines
Tennessee sits as a 13.5-point favorite at the time of writing, with the over/under set at 57.5 points. Based on those odds, we could be looking at a 35-21 Tennessee win if the oddsmakers are right.
