Four-star linebacker flips from Alabama to Tennessee
Tennessee football adds another blue-chip prospect to its 2025 recruiting class. The Vols are capping off another strong week on the recruiting trail after five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. committed to the Vols on Saturday.
The Vols got more good news on Sunday, as four-star linebacker Jaedon Harmon announced he is flipping his commitment from Alabama to Tennessee. He originally committed to Alabama earlier this year in April, but the momentum on the recruiting trail seems to have changed his mind ahead of the 2024 season.
The linebacker from Rome, Georgia, is the No. 13 linebacker in the country and the No. 20 player in the state of Georgia, according to On3 Sports Recruiting.
Harmon had an impressive junior season and was selected to the Atlanta Journal-Consitution's All-State list. He finished the year with 80 tackles, five sacks, and an interception, helping Rome win 11 games before being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
His athleticism, quickness, and physicality give Harmon a high ceiling at the next level. He's a game wrecker at outside linebacker for Rome, and he could be a playmaker for the Vols once he gets to Knoxville.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound prospect now makes five blue-chip athletes in this class who have committed to Tennessee to play on the defensive side of the ball. Tennessee has emphasized recruiting top prospects on defense in the past two recruiting classes, which looks like that is continuing to pay off with the 2025 recruiting class.
Tennessee is on pace to make the 2025 class the best defensive class in the Heupel era. If the Vols continue to win on the recruiting trail throughout the season, they could bring in a top-five class on Early Signing Day.
