Tennessee football adds another blue-chip prospect to its 2025 class with the commitment from four-star linebacker Christian Gass. He's the No. 85 player and No. 6 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class, according to On3 Recruiting

The Covington, Georgia native chose Tennessee over some SEC rivals. Gass picked the Vols over Georgia, USC, Kentucky, and Florida. In his decision, Gass said the Vols coaching staff has been genuine with him since the beginning.

"Tennessee has been genuine with me from the beginning," Gass told On3. "When I narrowed things down, who was genuine and who showed me love was important. Tennessee always did that. Coach Ek (Mike Ekeler), coach William Inge, coach, and the coaches at Tennessee made me a priority. They showed me I was important to them, and that never changed.

"How they got to know me for me was big, too. Tennessee recruited me as a person and as a linebacker, so that's showed me a lot. I feel comfortable with the coaches there. They are good people with good energy who got to know me."

We've heard a lot about Josh Heupel and the coaching staff being players-first coaches, and Gass proves that, at least in his recruiting process.

With Gass' commitment, the Vols now have the No. 10 recruiting class in the country and the No. 5 class in the SEC, according to On3's recruiting rankings. The Vols could have more good news in store in the next couple of weeks, as more blue-chip athletes are considering committing to the Vols.

Gass joins four-star wide receiver Travis Smith, four-star defensive lineman Charles House, four-star edge rusher Mariyon Dye, four-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu, and three-star corner Tre Poteat to commit to Tennessee over the past four weeks.

Four-star safety Lagonza Hayward, four-star offensive lineman Juan Gaston, and five-star offensive linemen David Sanders Jr. and Josh Petty are all expected to commit soon, and the Vols are in the running for all of them.
