Javontez Spraggins and John Campbell have been taking people to the busses
Tennessee football's offense hasn't missed a beat to start the 2024 season. Tennessee has improved in virtually every area of the offense in the offseason, whether it be redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava, the wide receiver corps, or the offensive line.
Javontez Spraggins and John Campbell are two names many Tennessee fans should be familiar with coming into the season. If not, they should be well-known after the season's first two games.
They have been handling business on the field, and as Michael Oher said in "The Blind Side," they have been taking guys to the bus.
In the season opener against Chattanooga, Spraggins and Campbell drive a Chatt defensive lineman out of the endzone to help Dylan Sampson score a touchdown.
That's impressive from two offensive linemen who knew they didn't have to do that to help Sampson score, but we've seen the culture and attitude of these two players and a dozen other guys up and down the roster give their best to help the team.
Spraggins and Campbell repeated their efforts in Week Two against North Carolina State. Nico scrambles out of the pocket and takes off running. What does Tennessee's right guard and right tackle do? They take the defensive lineman closest to them and drive him to the NC State bench.
Get used to this kind of dominance on the right side of the offensive line. Spraggins and Campbell aren't protecting Nico's blind side like Oher, but they are playing with the attitude that they are going to take guys to the bus because it's time for them to go home.
The duo will look to do it again in Week Three when the Vols take on Kent State in Neyland Stadium. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:45 PM ET on the SEC Network, and the Vols will play their final "tune-up" game before opening SEC play.
