Tennessee baseball won two out of three against Vanderbilt over the weekend, improving its record against the Commodores to 9-1 over the last ten games. This also marks Tennessee's eighth-straight SEC series win while improving its record to 19-8 in conference play.

The Vols have been absolutely dominant this season. They are hitting .317 and leading the SEC with four games to go in the regular season. They also have the most hits, doubles, RBIs, runs scored, highest slugging percentage, and second-most home runs in the conference.

While they have been dominant at the plate, the same can be said for the Vols out in the field. Tennessee is tied for the best fielding percentage in baseball and has the second-lowest earned run average in the SEC with a 3.86 ERA, second-lowest runs and earned runs allowed, least walks allowed, and tied for the most wins.

This is why Tennessee is the unanimous No. 1 team in the country after the penultimate week of the college baseball season. D1BaseballBaseball America, and Perfect Game all have Tennessee on top of the college baseball mountain ahead of the final few games in the season.

With one week left and three SEC games in the regular season, Tennessee still sits one game behind Kentucky for a regular season SEC Championship. While Tennessee is 19-8 in SEC play, the Wildcats are 20-7, and they will look to seal the deal against Vanderbilt in Lexington, Kentucky.

Tennessee will wrap up its season with four games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols will host Belmont on Tuesday before welcoming South Carolina Thursday through Saturday for their final SEC series.

No team has been better than Tennessee throughout conference play. Kentucky holds a better record, but even the Wildcats couldn't hold down the Vols in their three-game series last month. The Vols are hot at the right time, with an opportunity to win the SEC and be the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament later this month in Hoover, Alabama.
