Tennessee fans had to hold on for dear life in Game 3 of the College World Series in Omaha last night. Tennessee extended its lead to 6-1 in the seventh inning only to allow two runs in each of the next two innings before redshirt junior Aaron Combs finally slammed the door shut and crowned his Volunteers national champs.
History.

At 60-13, Tennessee is the first No. 1 overall seed to win the national championship since 1999 and the first 60-win SEC team in college baseball history. It was also the Vols' first national title in any team sport since the 2009 women’s indoor track and field championship and the fans from Rocky Top made sure to enjoy it.
This team legitimately did it all

- Won the National Championship
- Win the SEC Regular Season Championship
- Win the SEC Tournament Championship
- Win the SEC East
- And break the 25 year curse of the #1 overall seed
YOU CANT MAKE THIS UP
Combs’ ninth-inning heroics, after allowing the two runs, of course, will be something that Tennessee fans remember for a long time.
Aaron Combs smiling (borderline laughing) after his 1st balk of the season and a wild pitch only to comeback and strikeout the last guy to win the natty is one of the coldest moments of all time

For Tennessee fans, this national title was about way more than just baseball. It was a moment for the entire athletic department and fanbase to announce that they are back in the national spotlight after a challenging decade.
This is bigger than 2024, bigger than Baseball, people have no idea what Tennessee fans have been through the past few decades. We deserve this 🧡 https://t.co/s6xoe6qZXv

To punctuate that fact, both Josh Heupel and Rick Barnes were in attendance and celebrated with Tony Vitello on the field in Omaha.

Barnes had a disappointing end to his team’s season, falling short against Purdue in the Elite Eight, but it was still the best arguably the most successful one in program history.

We just experienced the greatest season all-time for both and it happened in the same calendar year

Mostly every Tennessee fan shared this feeling:
I keep remembering we just won a National Championship and smiling

And others wanted to bask in the glory as long as possible. Even in a crowded night of sports with Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final drawing plenty of national attention, there was more than enough Vols celebratory content to pull an all-nighter.
I will not sleep until I’ve seen, liked, and/or reposted every piece of Vols national championship content on the internet

After all the celebrations we know that every Vols supporter fell asleep to this wonderful song:
