Tennessee football announces Checker Neyland against SEC Rival

Tennessee football has made a yearly tradition of applying the Vols' famous checkerboard endzones to the fans in the stands. Each section is covered in orange or white, making a checker pattern throughout Neyland Stadium. 

It's one of the most beautiful college football sites and returning for the 2024 season. Tennessee Athletics has announced that they will Checker Neyland when the Florida Gators come to town on October 12. 

Tennessee has also announced Champions Weekend, during which the Vols will honor new inductees to the University of Tennessee Hall of Fame on November 2 against Kentucky. Homecoming will be celebrated on November 9 against Mississippi State, and Tennessee's annual Salute to Service Game will be held on November 23 against UTEP.

Tennessee has seen the most success in Checker Neyland games in the Josh Heupel era. Before 2021, Tennessee was 1-3 in Checker Neyland games and stopped the promotion after the 2017 season. Since 2021, the Vols are 2-1, and they are coming off back-to-back Checker Neyland wins. 

The Vols are now 3-4 all-time in Checker Neyland games, and they will look to even their all-time record to 4-4 this year when they return against Florida. 

Florida is familiar with Checker Neyland's environment. Tennessee has hosted the Gators for three of the seven Checker Neyland games in program history, with the Gators winning in 2014 but losing the two most recent games. 

October is going to be a busy month for the Vols this year. Tennessee will play in three SEC games, including back-to-back games against SEC rivals Florida and Alabama. We're less than ten days from Tennessee opening the season against Chattanooga on August 31.
