Tennessee football announces uniform combination and patch honoring Hurricane Helene victims
Tennessee football is off to a hot start to the 2024 season, starting the year 4-0, including dominant wins over North Carolina State and Oklahoma. While there's still a lot of the season left, Tennessee is looking to make another statement and prove they are National Championship contenders.
The Vols are breaking out the orange britches for the first time this season for their road game against Arkansas. This also makes the fourth different uniform combination the Vols will have worn this season.
Vols fans have been calling for the return of the orange britches, and Josh Heupel and the Vols have answered by breaking them back out this Saturday. While some Tennessee fans have also called for the orange helmets to return, they have still been sidelined for the traditional white lids.
Tennessee is bringing a little extra with them to Fayetteville for their SEC matchup. On Wednesday, Josh Heupel announced on Vol Calls that Tennessee will wear a helmet patch honoring those affected by Hurricane Helene in East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and Appalachia.
Thousands have been affected by Hurricane Helene, and Tennessee's player-led leadership council spearheaded the idea to honor those who were in the path of the storms and flooding.
It has become common for Tennessee to wear patches or stickers supporting the Volunteer State after wildfires, tornadoes, and now hurricanes.
Tennessee will have its hands full with a hungry Arkansas team that is a few plays away from being 5-0 instead of 3-2. The Vols and Razorbacks are scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 PM ET on ABC as a part of ABC's new primetime SEC on ABC broadcast.
