Tennessee football is a seasoned program that has found a lot of success in years past. However, there have been some programs that the Volunteers have struggled to find success against.

Every team has those opponents that can be tough games or that they have never beaten. Sometimes the thought of never have beaten a team can get into your head and mess with your mind.

We have looked at the FBS teams that Tennessee has never played and the teams that Tennessee is undefeated against, but now it is time to take a look at the teams they unfortunately have never beaten before.

So looking at Tennessee's long history, which teams have the Volunteers yet to get a win against? Can they finally get one in the win column soon? Only the Big 12 and the Big Ten house the teams that Tennessee has yet to beat.

Here is every FBS team that Tennessee has yet to beat in their football program history.

Big 12 Conference

Baylor: Tennessee has faced Baylor only once in its history and it was back in 1957 in the Sugar Bowl. The Bears beat the Volunteers 13-7 in a close game. It is a bit of a surprise that these teams have not faced each other since the '50s so a matchup is long overdue for the Volunteers to even the score.

BYU: Tennessee and BYU faced off recently in 2019 early in the season and it was a thriller. The game went to double overtime and BYU was able to squeak out a 29-26 win over the Volunteers. With the Cougars now in the Big 12, a rematch could be in the works.

Colorado: Technically Colorado did not beat Tennessee, their game ended in a tie back in 1990. The first game of the 1990 season for Tennessee technically didn't result in a loss but in a 31-31 tie.

Kansas State: Kansas State and Tennessee faced off on New Year's Day back in 2001 when they played each other in the Cotton Bowl. The Wildcats walked away with the 35-21 win over the Volunteers.

West Virginia: West Virginia and Tennessee also faced off recently back in 2018 early in the season and the Mountaineers took the convincing 40-14 win home from the neutral site game.

Big Ten Conference

Oregon: Oregon and Tennessee have faced off twice in the last 15 years in 2010 and 2013. The home and away series resulted in two losses for the Volunteers when their defense allowed over 45 points in both games and the offense was unable to score more than 14 points.

Purdue: Purdue and Tennessee faced off twice both in bowl games, once back in the '70s, and more recently back in 2021. The first matchup in the Music City Bowl was an overtime thriller while the matchup in the Bluebonnet Bowl was a 27-22 loss.

USC: USC seemed to be a thorn in Tennessee's side as they over 0-4 against the Trojans. The first two matchups both came in the Rose Bowl in the 1940s. Then these programs set up a home-and-away series in which Tennessee fell to USC both times.
