Tennessee football and Neyland Stadium are known for many things. It's one of the best venues in college sports, and fans create an atmosphere on Rocky Top that can be deafening for opponents.
Kirk Herbstreit celebrated the 2024 Herbie Awards at the end of last week, honoring and recognizing the best that college football has to offer. For years, he has seen the Vols run through the T and create a hostile environment against the best teams in college football.
So, when it came to the best entrance in college football — Herbstreit awarded the Vols running through the T in front of 100,000 raucous fans with the honor.
"There's not a better scene than Neyland Stadium, especially at night," Herbstreit said on ESPN. "And when they go through that Power T, it opens up with the band, and the team comes out. What an awesome atmosphere! It's a great way to get you fired up for the start of the football game."
ESPN will be on campus for at least a few different big-game matchups this season. Of the Vols seven home games, Tennessee will host Florida, Alabama, and Kentucky this year.
The athletic department has already announced that Tennessee's annual Checker Neyland game will take place when the Florida Gators come to town. The Vols will host "Champions Weekend" against Kentucky and Homecoming against Mississippi State.
Tennessee has a busy home schedule this season. The new SEC schedule preserved Tennessee's biggest rivalries while adding games against foes the Vols don't often see, like Mississippi State and SEC newcomer Oklahoma.
The Vols will kick off their season in Neyland Stadium this year when Chattanooga comes to town on August 31 to begin the 2024 season.
