Tennessee football is a touchdown favorite against NC State
Tennessee football will face its first test of the 2024 college football season on Saturday when it travels to Charlotte, North Carolina, to face the North Carolina State Wolfpack.
Tennessee opens as a 7-point favorite over NC State, while the over/under is set at 60.5 points, according to FanDuel. The Vols are given the points in the neutral site game after an elite offensive performance by redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava and the Vols' offense.
The Vols are 1-0 against the spread, as they easily covered 38.5 points against Chattanooga. Tennessee also single-handily hit the 56.5-point over in its season opener against Chatt, while NC State did not cover or hit the over in their season opener.
NC State beat Western Carolina 38-21, but that wasn't enough to cover the 32.5-point spread or the 60.5-point over in Week One. That could result from some Week One jitters or rust for Grayson McCall and the NC State offense.
This is McCall's first year in the Wolfpack offensive system, so it could take him some time to get going, but if there's anyone who could light up any of the defenses they will face this year, it's McCall, who transferred from Coastal Carolina this past offseason.
NC State had received some underdog predictions to win the ACC, partially because of McCall. The Wolfpack didn't look like a team that could win the ACC in Week One, but the conference is wide open and has no true favorite.
The Vols and Wolfpack will be featured on ABC, with a 7:30 PM ET kickoff, in a primetime matchup between the two ranked teams and two potential College Football Playoff teams.
