The preseason is upon us, and we're less than one month from college football gracing our television screens for the next four months. With that comes the preseason Associated Press Poll, where Tennessee football ranked in the top 15 for the second straight season.

Tennessee was ranked No. 12 in last year's preseason poll and came in at No. 15 in this year's poll after a nine-win season and a Citrus Bowl win over Iowa to cap off the season.

Josh Heupel's Tennessee Volunteers football squad has won 20 games over the past two seasons and is looking to secure a permanent spot as College Football Playoff contenders ahead of the Nico Iamaleava era.

The Vols should be improved on both sides of the ball with returning production mixed with veteran transfers; Tennessee should be ready to compete with some of the top teams in the SEC this year.

Tennessee was also listed at No. 15 in the USA Today Coaches Poll as well, cementing the Vols as a preseason top-15 team before the new era of SEC football officially kicks off at the end of the month.

The Vols are also the seventh-highest-ranked team in the SEC and also one of nine teams in USA Today's Coaches Poll.

Tennessee joins eight other SEC teams in the preseason AP Poll. Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Missouri, and LSU all rank ahead of Tennessee, while Oklahoma and Texas A&M come in behind the Vols in the initial ranking.

The 2024 college football season begins August 31 for the Vols when Chattanooga comes to Knoxville to open the season against the Vols.
