Tennessee football vs Chattanooga: Everything you need to know

Tennessee football's season opener is less than 24 hours away. The Vols are preparing to host the Chattanooga Mocs in Neyland Stadium to open the 2024 college football season. 

The Vols and Mocs have met 44 times since 1892, when the programs first met on the gridiron. Their last meeting was in 2019, which ended in a 45-0 Vols win. 

Tennessee leads the all-time record with 40 wins, two losses, and two ties. The Vols have won ten straight matchups, dating back to 1958, which is one of Chatt's two wins over Tennessee. The other win came in 1905. 

The Mocs are a solid FCS program, winning 15 games over the past two seasons and advancing to the second round of the FCS Playoffs last season. Chatt has taken one step forward to competing for a national championship every year since 2021 and will look to take another step this year. 

Tennessee is also on the rise as they look to make the College Football Playoffs for the first time in program history. Redshirt Freshman Nico Iamaleava leads the Vols in his first season as the Vols' starting quarterback and will look to get the Vols back to double-digit wins. 

According to Fanduel, the spread for this game is set at -38.5 Tennessee at the time of writing. The points total is set to O/U 56.5. 

Tennessee will wear the newest edition of its Smokey Grey uniforms, a dedication to the Volunteer State, in the season opener. The Vols and Mocs' official kickoff time is 12:45 PM ET, and they are scheduled to play on the SEC Network.
